The Galway Bay 10K is a 10 kilometre walk/run in aid of Cancer Care West, taking place on Saturday 6th October 2012. Entrants walk, jog or run the scenic 10 kilometre route around the streets of Salthill whilst raising funds for Cancer Care West and the development of cancer support services in the West of Ireland. The Galway Bay 10 is Cancer Care West’s biggest fundraising event of the year, and this year we are aiming to raise €100,000 for cancer patients and their families in the West of Ireland. On registering for the Galway Bay 10, each participant receives a sponsorship pack – there is no minimum sponsorship requirement – just do your best for us! Funds raised through the Galway Bay 10 over the past 8 years have supported the building and operating costs of Inis Aoibhinn, Cancer Care West’s residential facility and also the opening and running costs of the charity’s Cancer Support Centre. About Cancer Care West Cancer Care West is the West of Ireland cancer charity dedicated to supporting those whose lives have been affected by a cancer diagnosis. Our aim is to enhance patient care and well being and to provide supports to cancer patients and their families during and after their treatment. We do this through the provision of residential accommodation and support services to cancer patients from all over the West of Ireland including counties Clare, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Limerick, Mayo, North Tipperary, Roscommon and Sligo. All the services provided by Cancer Care West are available to the patient and their families at no cost and Cancer Care West relies heavily on charitable fundraising and donations to meet the cost of providing these services.
